Blog #10 Grandcamp Evening

This painting was made by Georges Seurat in 1885 and the medium was oil on canvas. I chose this because it was unique to me of the dark colors he used because of the background he wanted to integrate colors related to an ocean setting.Seurat turned to color theory and optics to develop his own method of painting, which he called Divisionism. Instead of mixing colors together on his palette, he applied unmixed paints to the canvas, leaving it to the viewer's eye to mix the colors optically. He inspired me to get into painting more because of his technique to drawing an image. It was a normal picture turned into art and his images I liked the most out of all the artists we learned about.
