I picked the painting the family by Mary Cassatt which is an oil on canvas painting. I really enjoy this painting for the subject it is discussing. It is just simply showcasing love we all feel in life toward a member of our family. In this specific case we see a mother admiring her new born baby, and a sister admiring her new brother or sister. The two seem to be bonding as we can see the baby touching the older girls face and the girl is gently holding the new baby's hand. They are places in a simple background outside near tree. Lots of paintings have a lot going on with multiple layers and meaning, which is always a good thing, but i enjoy the simplicity and obvious talent shown by this painting.
