Three Women (Le Grand Dejeuner)
Oil on Canvas
Fernand Leger
1921
I chose this figure for this blog because it represent non-proportioant bodies of women, which make the painting unique. You can still distinguish that the photo is of woman however the distortion of there bodies give it this abstract appeal to it. The colors used are very basic and a lot of patterns are used for the carpet and background which gives it some texture. It was not odd for woman back in the 1900's to pose nude for artist and the figures may not exactly look like what a standard person would, however thats what makes it art.
