Salvador Dalí. Christ of Saint John of the Cross.

I chose this painting by Salvador Dalí because it uses a
familiar religious symbol, a crucifix, and gives you a new perspective of it.
It is a very powerful image, the crucifix much larger than anything else in the
painting. I also like the colors in the image; there are only earth tones. The
shadows are also very interesting. After doing some research on the painting,
it was pointed out that in this depiction of the crucifix is unusual in that there
are no nails or signs of blood.
