Blog #8 Vita
This painting was made by Julian Schnabel in 1983 called Vita and is oil on canvas. I chose this image because instead of the depiction of Jesus on the cross its a woman. The colors surrounding her make this a detailed piece of art. This theme is common in museums but everything around this image gives this painting a twist on the viewers viewpoint. This is one occasion when the image is not presented with plainness. The figure itself is warmly lighted and painted: also transformed into a primitive expressive image, the artist wants people to be shocked at what they are seeing.
