The Yellow Christ was painted in 1889 by Paul Gauguin and was oil on canvas. I chose this because of what the image is depicting, Jesus being crucified and I like the bright colors and the background giving it an impressionist style. Some believe
that the artist made this painting of Christ on the cross as a
self-portrait. This depiction of the male artist as a superior being is
a way of showing that he is an independent man and this image had a deep meaning.
